Close fitting underwear is perfect, trunks, briefs, or thongs, unpadded or no bra, so that the scanner can calculate your body measurements as closely as possible – so nothing too tight or loose – just comfortable and smooth close to your skin.
Baggy boxers would read as much larger thigh measurements and ruffles on bras as excess skin for example!
It is also important to tie your hair up so that your neck area is completely clear. I will have some hair ties and grips to help.
Jewellery and watches need to be removed as anything reflective can upset the scan results and your body dimension readings, although wedding bands and small rings are ok. I have a jewellery dish you can keep things safe in for the short duration of the scan – it is completed in under a minute!
You are welcome to bring a partner or friend with you to your appointment if you wish.
I can run through everything with you when we meet, and feel free to ask any questions through our contact form.
If you’re wondering what happens… for the first part of the scan you just step on to the silver feet, relax your arms and look straight at the tower for 15 seconds.
Next you lift the handles up, relax your arms to make a straight A shape, and press and hold gently down the buttons on the end of the handles with your thumbs.
There will be 3 beeps and then the circular plate gently turns, you stand still as it turns (and try not to talk!), and in half a minute the plate stops just past the tower and the scan is complete.
By the time you have changed the scans will have processed and I can run through everything with you.
The scan is completely safe, so there are no worries for anyone with pacemakers or who may be pregnant – you could even track the progress of your bump!
Your results are kept securely at Fit3D and you can access them whenever you choose by signing in to Fit3D.com or the free Fit3D app you can add to your phone. You can share your scans and reports with physiotherapists or coaches etc – they usually find them really useful to help you as well.
